Free Shipping is not always possible for wineries as it may run afoul of their particular state's ABC laws. (Wineries may not be allowed to offer anything "free".) However, reduced prices on shipping, even very reduced prices may work. In California a winery can say "shipping included" which is in essence free.

But the rest of the post is right on. Wineries need to update their sites frequently, weekly is best, even if the changes are minor. Not only is it more interesting and can get people to come back, but Google and other search engines increase rankings if the site content changes frequently.

Too many wineries feel that just by making good wine they will sell it. Wineries do not spend enough time, money or energy on marketing. This is a key component to successful sales. Social Media is something to definitely be part of, though it has to be thought through as part of an overall marketing strategy.

Times are still rough for wineries and each winery may have a different approach, but no one (or very few) can neglect working harder than ever to stay in business. There is simply too much competition for the consumer's ever-shrinking dollar.

I'm so glad! I feel we only need to hang on for a little while and then the economy will go back up again! Kenya would be an interesting place to make wine -- what grapes do you grow and/or wines do you make?

Thank you! Many of the wineries I work with are so busy making wine they don't have time to do a lot of market, so after a lot of research wrote the article to help them 'sell more wine' ;)
